You Should Not Have to Do This Alone
Our dementia caregiver support groups are free and open to any Colorado family caring for someone with memory loss. Sessions run about ninety minutes, in person in Greenwood Village or online. You can come and say nothing at all.
Who are the groups for?
Family caregivers. Adult children who fly in every other month, spouses who have not slept properly in a year, grandchildren who became the primary contact by accident. Some people in the room still have their person at home. Others moved them into memory care last spring and are carrying the guilt of it.
You do not need to be a client. Most people in the room are not. There is no cost and nobody will pitch you a community.
What is a session actually like?
We start with a short check-in so nobody has to perform. Then the conversation goes wherever the room needs it, usually the practical things: a parent who will not shower, a sibling who disagrees about everything, a hospital that wants a discharge decision by Friday.
One of us facilitates, so somebody in the room has clinical and community experience and can answer a question directly instead of leaving it hanging. What is said in the group stays in the group.

Where else can caregivers find support?
The Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter runs a 24/7 helpline, additional groups across the state, and education for newly diagnosed families. Their calendar is worth checking alongside ours.
If you are newer to all of this, start with the free Dementia 101 class. If the question in front of you is whether it is time for a secured community, read what memory care includes or browse the dementia and memory care guides.
