Senior Living Tour Question Checklist
For a family member walking into a community for the first time.
This checklist gives you sixteen questions to ask on a senior living tour, grouped by staffing, care and cost, daily life, and the paperwork. Ask them in order, write the answers down, and you will leave with facts you can compare instead of a feeling about the lobby.

Staffing
Why it matters: Falls and confusion happen at night, and an on-call aide from another building is not the same as a caregiver on the floor.
Why it matters: Leadership turnover is the single best early warning that care quality is about to slip.
Why it matters: QMAP is the state certification for unlicensed staff who give medications, so it tells you who can legally hand your parent a pill.
Care and cost
Why it matters: Tier sheets show exactly what moves a resident from one monthly price to the next, which is where most surprise increases come from.
Why it matters: Three to eight percent a year is normal in Colorado, and a community that will not answer usually has a bigger number to hide.
Daily life
Why it matters: Food is the daily thing residents comment on most, and a menu reads better than it tastes.
Paperwork and license
Why it matters: Colorado publishes inspection findings and complaint history, so you can read the state record instead of the brochure.
Why it matters: Nobody should read a contract standing up in a lobby, and a community that will not hand it over is telling you something.
